Some of her chamber music partners include Ensemble Modern, Colin Carr, Barry Shiffman, Suzie LeBlanc, Eduardo Leandro, Olivier Patey, soloists of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Stony Brook Contemporary Chamber Players in New York, with whom she performed for many years. As a chamber and orchestra musician, she performed in the Berliner Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Berlin, Laieszhalle Philharmonie Essen, Alte Oper Frankfurt, ZKM Karlsruhe, Festival Présences in Aix-en-Provence, International Musikinstitut Darmstadt, at the Gasteig and the Prinzregenten Theater in Munich. Her concerts have been broadcasted on the Bayerischen Rundfunk, RadioFrance, Radio4Netherlands and on the Swiss Radio DRS.

Following her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Cologne under the tutelage of Prof. Dr. Florence Millet, she completed her Doctorate in Musical Arts from the studio of Gilbert Kalish at the State University of New York, Stony Brook, where she received chamber music coaching from the Emerson String Quartet. Contemporary music is one of her speciality. Through her collaborations with composers such as Thomas Adès, Luca Francesconi, Martin Matalon and Johannes Maria Staud, she premiered many pieces and was offered a scholarship at the International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt.

Sophie Patey taught piano and chamber music at the State University of New York, Stony Brook and has lead master classes in different American universities. She worked as a coach and collaborative pianist at the Juilliard School of Music (New York), at the Universität der Künste Berlin and was an official accompanist of the ARD International Music Competition in 2015. Her abilities and experience were recognised to work as a professor for piano, chamber music and accompaniment in the Belgian higher education system and she received the equivalence of the French “Certificat d’Aptitude” to teach those three disciplines as well. She is currently a collaborative pianist at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris (France), maintains a private studio and helps professional and young artists to prepare concerts and international competitions.
