Bernadette A. Murphy DC, PhD graduated from Queens University in 1985 and CMCC in 1989. She completed her MSc (1992) and PhD (1998) in Human Neurophysiology at the University of Auckland where she established an MSc in Exercise Rehabilitation. The overall theme of her research is neural plasticity (adaptation) in humans. The overall theme of her research is neural plasticity in humans. She investigates the role of altered sensory input from the spine on sensorimotor integration and motor control.  She combines performance measures of speed and accuracy with neurophysiological techniques including transcranial magnetic stimulation, and somatosensory evoked and has authored more than 65 manuscripts.

She has been awarded: the WFC best scientific paper award in 1995 and 2015, 3rd prize in 2007, New Zealand Chiropractor of the Year (2004), the 2010 OCA award for most significant contributions to research, the Earl Homewood CMCC Professorship in 2013 and 2014, and the UOIT Research Excellence Award in 2014.

The HLHPRI Research Seminar Series is a core program of the Institute and each year presentations by visiting scholars, Institute research affiliates, the fellowship recipient and invited guests are organized under the banner of the Seminar Series. The Seminar Series has also been a valuable opportunity to collaborate with other units at the University of Manitoba and community organizations. Several seminars have been co-sponsored by other units which has resulted in expanding our audience beyond our affiliates. This has also contributed to achieving the university’s strategic priorities.
